West Windsor, N.J. (April 20, 2012)--Fifth-seeded Mount St. Mary's lost to fourth-seeded LIU Brooklyn, 4-0, on Friday afternoon in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals held at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
The Blackbirds won the doubles points before capturing three singles matches to earn the victory. In doubles play, LIU's Nancy Zonneveld and Lisa Maas posted an 8-2 win over Renee Deane and Carly Landini at the No. 2 position while Aleksandra Pavlovic and Brittany Thompson won 8-0 over Liz Rossi and Jennifer Smith at No. 3. LIU's pair of Sanne Louwers and Taysha Blessington were leading the Mount's Samantha Pinchoff and Kelly Conroy, 7-2, when the match was stopped.
In singles play, Louwers earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles with Blessington defeating Conroy, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot. Zonneveld had the final point of the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rossi at No. 5 singles. The other three singles matches were not finished.
The Mount will conclude the season tomorrow morning with a consolation match at 9:00 a.m.
