Men's Tennis Returns To Emmitsburg To Host Delaware

Delaware at. Mount St. Mary's

Mount Update: The men are coming off a 6-1 win over Coppin State on April 4. The team won all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead and never looked back. They went on to win five of the six singles matches to roll to victory. 

About Delware: The Blue Hens are coming off a 5-2 win over Drexel on Saturday. Delaware swept the doubles matches to earn the early 1-0 advantage. They went on to win four of the six singles matches to down the Dragons. 

Last Time We Met: Delaware downed the Mount 7-0 the last time we met back in 2009. The Blue Hens won all the matches to roll to victory. 

The All-Time Series: Delaware holds a commanding 7-1 advantage over the Mount. The only Mount win was back in the first meeting in 1991. The Mount won 4-1. 

Blake and Place On Fire: The duo has been on a tear this season. They have a 11-6 record on the season, with most of those wins coming this spring. Taylor Placeentered the top 10 career doubles wins, with 38 on his career. The record is 49 held by Jeff Lamberton. Place can break the record next year if he keeps up this pace. 

Salomon Coming For That Number One Spot: Junior Mike Salomon has 57 career singles victories, putting him in 2nd place all time. He trails Sanjaya Wijemanne, who had 72 in his illustrious career. He can break the single season record with three more wins. He has 26 on the year and trails Wijemanne who had 27.

Up Next: The Mount returns to action on April 11, to face the Greyhounds of Loyola. Match begins at 3:00 PM.
