Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Drexel defeated Mount St. Mary's 15-0 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Brigid McTavish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) had five saves for the Mount (0-4) while Meaghan Conlon (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) posted three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Lindsay Diaz (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) notched three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover with Esther Rufolo (Woodstock, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) and Kaitlyn Larrimore (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) each had three shots in the loss.
Jaclyn Klunder paced the Dragons (4-2) with three goals and an assist. Charlotte Wood added a hat trick while Alissa Watts recorded two goals and an assist in the winning effort. Amanda Santandrea made two saves and Teresha Bradley had four saves in 30 minutes each in between the pipes.
Drexel scored 10 times in the first half and five times in the second stanza to take the first-ever meeting against Mount St. Mary's.
Wood got the scoring started at 1:52 before Sam Berger found the twine at 2:41 for a 2-0 edge. Klunder then notched a natural hat trick with tallies at 7:52, 9:28 and 11:44. Watts (13:05), Amanda Norcini (14:50), Wood (15:42), Lindsey Kovar (16:42) and Ali Allen (28:27) each scored to cap a 10-goal stanza.
Watts (40:42), Wood (45:15) and Norcini (17:04) each found the twine before Kelly Palace sealed the win with a pair of goals in the final five minutes.
It marks the first time in program history the Mountaineers were shutout in a contest. The Mount has was held to one goal once in team history after falling 15-1 to Saint Joseph's on Mar. 27, 1996 for the previous game low in goals.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday when the squad hosts Iona. Game time is 4 p.m.
