HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac edged Mount St. Mary's 12-10 in Northeast Conference (NEC) women's lacrosse action on Friday.

The Mount (3-8, 2-1 NEC) rallied from an 11-7 deficit with three-straight goals to make it a one-goal game with 3:02 remaining. Annie Battista (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) scooped up the ensuing draw control and freshman Erin Seipp (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Preparatory School) had her shot saved with 1:23 remaining. The Bobcats (4-4, 3-0 NEC) turned the ball over with 45 seconds on the clock, but a Mountaineer turnover gave the ball right back to Quinnipiac and Kyra Ochwat sealed the win with a tally with 13 seconds left.

Seipp paced Mount St. Mary's with a career-high four goals and one assist. Kaitlyn Larrimore (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) and Esther Rufolo (Woodstock, Md./Chapelgate Christian Academy) each registered two goals while Hayley Tomilson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) notched her first collegiate goal and Hannah Gutcher (Hampstead, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) also scored in the loss.

Sarah Allen fueled the Bobcats with five assists. Marissa Caroleo posted three goals and an assist and Ochwat had a hat trick in the winning effort.

Mount St. Mary's grabbed the advantage late in the first half before Quinnipiac made a run to start the second half and held off a late Mount charge to earn the victory in the rematch of the 2011 NEC Championship Game.

After Rufolo gave the Mount a 7-4 lead early in the second half, the Bobcats rolled off the next seven goals to take the lead for good. Chelsea Guerrera (33:37), Lianne Toomey (34:25) and Caroleo each posted goals to tie the game at 7 before Ochwat (38:02), Toomey (39:25), Michaela Tinsley (41:44) and Caroleo (43:16) capped the 7-0 run to give Quinnipiac an 11-7 lead.

Larrimore ended the Bobcats spurt to start a 3-0 run with consecutive goals. The redshirt sophomore found the twine off a feeder from Jen Semler (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) at 46:26 and off a pass from Seipp at 50:20. Gutcher made it a one-goal game when she found the twine unassisted at 56:58. The Mount had one chance to tie the game, but could not convert and Quinnipiac came away with the victory

The two teams traded a pair of goals to start the match. The Bobcats opened the scoring when Devon Gibney found the back of the net at 3:16 before Ochwat scored at 8:09 for a 2-0 lead.

Mount St. Mary's answered with unassisted goals from Rufolo (12:04) and Seipp (12:36) to knot the game at 2.

Quinnipiac momentarily regained the lead when Guerrera found the back of the net at 14:08, but the Mountaineers scored the next three goals to take their first lead of the afternoon.

Seipp notched her second goal of the afternoon at 20:27 to knot the game at 3. Tomilson registered her first career goal at 24:35 and then Seipp completed her third-straight game with a hat trick at 27:18 for a 5-3 lead.

Caroleo responded with a tally at 28:23, but Seipp closed the scoring in the first half with her fourth goal of the afternoon with 19 seconds left in the first half to give Mount St. Mary's a 6-4 lead at the break.

Rufolo then started the scoring in the second half with a goal at 32:56 to hand the Mount a 7-4 lead, but the Bobcats scored the next seven goals to take the lead for good and held on to earn its ninth-straight win against the Mountaineers.

Brigid McTavish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) made six saves for Mount St. Mary's to move into second place on the program's all-time career saves list with 467 stops. Samantha Tilts made two saves in the first half while Noelle Martello had five stops in the final 30 minutes to earn the victory.

Seipp added two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Melissa Cox (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) recorded a team-high four ground balls while Lindsay Diaz (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) grabbed a team-best four draw controls. Meaghan Conlon (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) tallied three draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action at Sacred Heart on Sunday. Game time is 1 p.m.
