FARMVILLE, Va. - Nicole Price (White Hall, Md./North Harford) and Jen Semler (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) combined for seven goals to lead Mount St. Mary's past Longwood 12-11 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Price notched her second career hat trick after scoring at 5:20, 8:22 and 23:44 before finding the twine once in the second half at 38:37 for a career-high four tallies. It was the senior's first hat trick since posting three goals against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Mar. 22, 2009. Semler posted her first career hat trick along with two assists for a career-best five points on the afternoon. The junior scored once in the first half and twice in the second stanza while adding an assist in each stanza.

Kaitlyn Larrimore (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) added two goals and an assist for the Mount (1-4) while Meaghan Conlon (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) found the twine twice and Allie Fife (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) registered a goal and an assist to help first-year head coach B.J. Lucey to her first victory as a head coach. Brigid McTavish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) made 10 saves in the winning effort.

Cara O'Brien scored five times to pace the Lancers (2-1) while Kelsey Dean added a tally and two helpers. Juli Liebig turned away six shots in the loss.

Mount St. Mary's grabbed the advantage for good midway through the first half and held on after a furious comeback attempt from Longwood to end a two-game losing streak against the Lancers.

The Mount had a 10-6 lead with 18:14 left in the contest before O'Brien fueled a 4-2 run to end the game with three goals. Amanda Bereznay trimmed the margin to 12-11 off a Dean assist with 1:50 left. Katleen Battle won the ensuing draw control, but Alexis Salerno (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) caused a turnover to give the ball to Mount St. Mary's before a Mount turnover with 81 seconds left gave the ball back to Longwood. The Lancers then turned the ball over with 47 seconds on the clock and the Mountaineers ran out the clock to secure the victory.

Mount St. Mary's broke a 3-all standstill with four-straight tallies to take the advantage for good at 7-3. Larrimore handed the Mount the lead for good off an assist by Fife at 16:44 before Semler (21:08), Larrimore (22:10) and Price (23:44) each scored unassisted in a span of two minutes and 36 seconds to take a four-goal lead.

Longwood then scored the final goal of the first half when Duan Wright found the twine unassisted at 25:54 to trim the deficit to 7-4 at halftime. Dean started the scoring in the final frame with an 8-meter goal at 33:59 to make it a two-goal game.

Semler and Price responded with back-to-back markers at 37:53 and 38:37 to give the Mountaineers a 9-5 lead. After O'Brien answered unassisted at 39:39, Semler restored a four-goal margin off a Larrimore helper at 41:36.

The Lancers then scored four of the final six tallies to nearly tie the score before the end of regulation. O'Brien started the rally with a free-position goal at 43:41 and Jamie Brentlinger scored unassisted at 44:02 to trim the margin to 10-8.

Conlon momentarily halted the surge with her second goal of the afternoon off a Semler feed at 45:48 to give the Mount an 11-8 margin. O'Brien then scored consecutive markers at 54:15 off a Dean assist and unassisted at 53:48 to cut the score to 11-10.

Fife picked up a ground ball off a Larrimore shot and found the back of the twine at 57:36 to help seal the victory. Dean set up Bereznay with 1:50 left, but Longwood could get no closer.

Price got the scoring started in the contest unassisted at 5:20 to give Mount St. Mary's a 1-0 edge. Jess Rudloff answered with an unassisted marker at 6:56 to tie the game at 1.

Price restored the Mount lead unassisted at 8:22, but O'Brien answered with an 8-meter tally at 9:06 to even the score at 2.

After Conlon regained the advantage for the Mountaineers off a Semler assist at 9:52, Mary Barondess tied the match at 3 unassisted at 12:33. Mount St. Mary's then scored the next four tallies and held on for its first win of the year.

Aly Jost (Abington, Md./Bel Air) had a team-high four ground balls. Conlon tallied two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers while Lucy Pompa (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) posted three ground balls, a draw control and two caused turnovers.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action at Bucknell on Mar. 16. Game time is 4 p.m.
