NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Nicole Price (White Hall, Md./North Harford) scored back-to-back goals midway through the second half to cap a career-high four goal performance and lift Mount St. Mary's past Central Connecticut State 13-8 in Northeast Conference (NEC) women's lacrosse action on Sunday.

Price, who also had four tallies in a 12-11 win against Longwood on Mar. 8, broke a 7-all tie with a free-position goal at 44:04 and an unassisted goal at 46:52 to give the Mount (3-7, 2-0 NEC) the lead it would not relinquish. The senior scored twice in the first half and added an assist for her first career five-point performance.

Jen Semler (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) registered her second-straight four-goal game and has posted three goals in four of her last six games. Kaitlyn Larrimore (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) added two goals and Alexis Salerno (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Mellville) chipped in a goal and an assist while Brigid McTavish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) made 10 saves in the winning effort.

Ashley Mara paced the Blue Devils (5-5, 0-3 NEC) two markers and a helper while Betsy Vendel and Michele Conway each found the twine twice. Erin Delancey turned away nine shots in the loss.

The game was a seesaw battle for the first 44 minutes before Mount St. Mary's rolled off five unanswered goals to take the lead for good and improve to 2-0 in league play for the seventh time in program history.

After Conway tied the game at 7 on an 8-meter tally at 31:24, Price started a 5-0 run with back-to-back scores. The senior converted a free-position chance at 44:04 to knot the game and then gave the Mountaineers the lead for good on an unassisted marker at 46:52. Lucy Pompa (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) then notched her first goal of the season unassisted at 47:03 before Salerno scored unassisted at 52:28 and Semler posted an 8-meter goal at 54:36 for a 12-7 advantage.

Conway momentarily halted the Mount momentum with an unassisted tally at 55:35 to trim the margin to 12-8, but Allie Fife (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) sealed the Mount St. Mary's win with an unassisted score at 26:57.

Central Connecticut State started the game by scoring the first two goals of the afternoon. After Mara scored off a Meaghan McCurry assist at 1:37, Vendel increased the advantage to 2-0 after find the back of the net unassisted at 3:28.

The Mount answered with the next three markers to grab a 3-2 edge. Semler got the Mountaineers on the scoreboard unassisted at 7:44 before Price set up Larrimore at 9:31 to even the match at 2. Price then scored unassisted at 18:02 to hand Mount St. Mary's the one-goal margin.

Central Connecticut State came back with the next two goals to regain the lead at 4-3. Vendel scored off a Mackenzy Ryan assist at 21:36 and Mara set up McCurry 74 seconds later.

Mount St. Mary's closed the first half by posting the final two goals of the stanza to take a 5-4 lead at halftime. After Price found the twine unassisted at 27:34, Larrimore gave the Mount the lead going into the break off a feed from Salerno with eight seconds left in the half.

The Mountaineers increased its advantage to two goals after scoring the first goal of the final frame when Meaghan Conlon (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) connected with Semler at 30:11 for a 6-4 lead.

The Blue Devils again responded with consecutive goals to tie the game at 6. Ryan converted an 8-meter chance at 32:28 and Mara scored unassisted at 34:04.

Semler regained the edge for Mount St. Mary's when she scored unassisted at 40:04, but Conway registered a free-position score 80 seconds later to square the match at 7. Price then scored the final two tallies to start a 5-0 run and propel the Mount to the victory.

Aly Jost (Abington, Md./Bel Air) paced the Mount with five ground balls and five draw controls while Pompa added two ground balls and four draw controls.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Friday when it hosts Long Island in the squad's home NEC opener. Game time is 4 p.m.
