Women's Soccer Downs Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-1, to Move to .500 in Northeast Conference Play

Box Score

Teaneck, N.J. (October 9, 2011)—Jackie Corley had a goal and an assist to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 2-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson in Northeast Conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

With the score tied at 1-1 early in the second half, Corley dribbled into the box from the wide right side, and put her shot into the top left corner of the goal to give the Mount a 2-1 lead.

In the first half, Fairleigh Dickinson's Rashidah Sherman converted a cross in the 16th minute to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage.

The lead was short-lived, however, as the Mount (4-6-2, 2-2-0 NEC) got the equalizing goal just 30 seconds later.  Corley crossed the ball to Sadie Winship, who was able to tally her team-leading third goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Alicia Miller made seven saves to earn the victory as the Mountaineers held a 17-to-15 edge in shots in the game.  Stephanie Tanzi made four saves for FDU (4-6-1, 1-4-0 NEC) in the loss.

Mount St. Mary's visits Robert Morris on Friday, October 14, before heading home to face Saint Francis (Pa.) on October 16.
