Loretto, Pa. (October 8, 2011)--The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams each finished in second place at the Father Bede Invitational hosted by Saint Francis University on Saturday afternoon.
The Mount men had three runners in the top five, paced by senior Gigi Gibilisco's second-place finish. Gibilisco finished the 5-kilometer course in a time of 16:27.00. He was followed by junior Chris Swisko (4th, 16:31.00) and freshman Tommy Gruschow (5th, 16:32.00). Freshman Kevin Pitts (15th, 17:06.00) and senior Joe Perry (20th, 17:13.00) rounded out the top five. The Mountaineers top runner, three-time All-Northeast Conference selection Dylan Bernard, did not run.
Bucknell won the meet with 25 points, followed by the Mount (41), Saint Francis (Pa.) (80) and Hagerstown Community College (94).
On the women's side, freshman McKenzie Doyle paced the Mountaineers by finishing in ninth place with a time of 20:43.00. Juniors Colleen Smith (13th, 21:07.00) and Kathryn Franke (14th, 21:11.00) had strong performances while freshman Megan Schott (20th, 21:47.00) and senior Christina Praydis (24th, 22:21.00) rounded out the top five. Two-time All-NEC runner Megan Kinsella did not run for the Mount at the meet.
Bucknell won the women's meet with 15 points, followed by Mount St. Mary's (53) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (76).
