Lawrenceville, NJ (October 22, 2011)—Mount St. Mary's men's tennis defeated the Broncs on Saturday 6-1, behind strong play in singles.
Matthew Blake and Adam Salam disposed of their opponents in straight sets. Blake won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Salam won at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3. Mike Salomon, Taylor Place, and Patrick McGinley also won their singles matches in straight sets. Salomon won 6-1, 6-2; and Place won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 and 5 respectively. McGinley won at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
IN doubles action, the Mount won the doubles point, behind the duos of Matthew Blake and Taylor Place at No. 1, and Mike Salomon and Mike Zabetakis at No. 2. Blake/Place won 8-3, while Salomon and Zabetakis won 8-4.
The men return to action tomorrow, Sunday October 23, when they finish the fall schedule with Wagner at home. Match begins at 10:00 a.m.
Note: With his singles win today, Mike Salomon moves into a tie for 8th on the all time wins list. Salomon is now 42-20 for his career.
