New Britain, Conn. (September 11,
2010)--Sophomore Dylan Bernard finished in 11th place to
help lead the Mount St. Mary's men's cross country team to a
fifth-place finish at the Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Central
Connecticut State University.
Bernard finished the 8-kilometer course
in a time of 26:56 to pace the Mountaineers. Freshman Matthew
Pacheco was 20th overall with a time of 27:12. Chris Swisko was
27th (27:29), Sean Caskey 40th (27:58) and Shane Holcomb 62nd
(28:58) to round out the Mount's top five.
Provdence won the men's meet that
featured nine teams.
On the women's side, sophomore Megan
Kinsella finished 12th overall to help the Mount to a sixth-place
finish. Kinsella finished the 6-kilometer course in a time of
18:31.
Colleen Smith was the Mount's
second-fastest finisher, placing 27th overall (19:02). Kathryn
Franke was 40th (19:35), Stephanie Joson 57th (19:50) and Desiree
Scott 77th (20:28) to round out the top five finishers for Mount
St. Mary's.
Providence also won the women's meet that
had 10 teams competing.
Both teams return to action at the Navy
Invitational on September 18.
