Mount St. Mary's freshman Mike Salomon has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. This is the third time this season that Salomon has earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors.

Salomon won a pair of No. 2 singles matches to land his second consecutive NEC Rookie of the Week award. The first-year Mountaineer dropped the first set of his match against Howard's Devard Wharton, but rallied for a three-set victory (1-6, 6-4, 6-1) that tipped the team result in Mount St. Mary's favor. Helping the Mount to another 4-3 team triumph, Salomon cruised past Igor Neves of NEC rival Robert Morris, 6-3, 6-1.

Now sporting a 13-3 dual match record at No. 2 singles, Salomon has been a major contributor to his team's turnaround from three wins last season to its current 10-6 mark.
