Women's Tennis Drops 4-1 Decision to Sacred Heart in NEC Quarterfinals

West Windsor, N.J. (April 16, 2010)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team fell to Sacred Heart, 4-1, in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals on Friday.

The Mount dropped the doubles point to fall behind in the match, 1-0. Kristina Chao and Liz Harrington downed the Mount's Chelsea Johnson and Emily Grugan, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles while the Mount's top team of Emily Bolchoz and Renee Deane lost 8-0 to Darcy Demers and Julianne Kasinow.

In singles play, Deane earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kasinow at No. 5 singles for the Mount's only point of the match. Kate Donnelly downed Johnson, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles with Chao defeating Carly Landini, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Downing had a 6-1, 6-1 win over Grugan at No. 6 singles. The other two matches were not completed.

The Mount faces Robert Morris in a consolation match on Saturday.
