West Windsor, N.J. (April 16, 2010)--The
Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team lost to Monmouth, 4-0, in the
Northeast Conference Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at the
Mercer County Tennis Center.
The Mount fell behind 1-0 after Monmouth
edged the Mount in doubles play. Thad Mostowtt and Taylor Place
won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles, but Monmouth won a pair of close matches
at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the point. Patrick Plastow and
Matthew Blake fell 9-7 to Laurence Heads and Ian Terpilowski at No.
1 while Andrew Marinucci and Mike Salomon lost 8-6 to David
Sherwood and Harvey Bhalla at No. 2.
In singles play, Heads downed Plastow,
6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 while Sherwood defeated Mostowtt, 6-3, 6-2 at No.
3 singles. Bhalla posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Marinucci at No. 4.
The other matches were not finished.
The Mount will face Robert Morris on
Saturday in the consolation round.
