March 30, 2010--Mount St. Mary's freshman Mike Salomon (Haymarket, Va./Seton School) has been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Salomon, who plays at the No.2 spot in the Mount's lineup, went 3-0 last week in singles action while pairing with Andrew Marinucci for two wins in three matches in doubles play. In the Mount's 6-1 loss to Bucknell, Salomon won 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 over Bucknell's Gregg Cohenca. He then won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, over Mahamut Kemirkol of the Univ. of District of Columbia and in straight sets (7-6, 6-4) over George Mason's Greg Donabedian.

Salomon is 13-7 this year in singles action, including 11-3 at the No. 2 singles spot in dual matches.
