The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team lost its first two matches
on its spring trip to Florida. The Mount lost at Bethune-Cookman,
7-0, before being edged by Walsh, 5-4.
In the loss to Bethune-Cookman, The Mount's No.3 doubles pair of
Thad Mostowtt and Taylor Place earned an 8-6 win, but
Bethune-Cookman took the other two doubles matches to earn the
point. In singles play, Mike Salomon was edged 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 at
No. 2 singles by Emil Vassilev while Place lost in three sets to
Christian Cruz, 4-6, 6-2, 10-3, at No. 4 singles.
The Mount was clipped by Walsh, 5-4. In doubles play, Mostowtt and
Place won 8-6 over Chase Pucci and Jerred Gable at No. 3 doubles,
but Walsh took the points at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
In
singles play, Salomon was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Jonathan Esber at
No. 2 singles. Place captured a 5-7, 7-5, 10-2 win at No. 5
singles while Matthew Blake cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win at No.
6 singles.
