Md. (September 20, 2009)--Mount St. Mary's fell to
visiting Navy, 4-1, in women's soccer action at Waldron Family
Stadium on campus on Sunday afternoon. The Mount's (Dover,
Pa./Dover) scored the Mount's goal in the game.Emily

The Mount (2-5-1) carried play throughout the first half, holding a
9-to-6 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes. The Mids,
however, were the only team to score in the period when Alicia
Crawford headed in a cross from Brittany Fruin with just under 10
minutes left for a 1-0 advantage. Kelsey Learned also earned an
assist on the play.
The second half started with a scoring frenzy as each team tallied
a goal in the opening 1:37. Navy's Carissa Youker flicked a shot
inside the box to the lower left-hand part of the goal to give the
Mids a 2-0 lead. Brittany White and Kate Herren had assists on the
play.
The Mount
answered just over a minute later when Menotti took a long pass
from freshman (Cinnaminson,
N.J./Cinnaminson) and floated a long shot from the right side about
20 yards out to the upper left-hand part of the goal.Kelly

Navy
(8-1-1) countered with a goal from Annie Kendzior at the 64:56 mark
to take a 3-1 lead. Kendzior collected a pass from White, dribbled
past the Mount defender and scored. Fruin completed the scoring in
the 86th minute when she headed a cross from Crawford past Mount
goalkeeper (Lititz,

The Mount
had several good scoring chances in the second half, including a
shot from leading scorer (Beltsville,
Md./Elizabeth Seton) that was tipped over the cross bar in the

The Mount held an 18-to-14 advantage in shots in the game, but just
seven of those shots were on goal. Navy goalkeeper Beth Reed made
five saves in 87:49 of action while Eowyn Pedicini notched one save
in the final 2:11. Miller made seven saves for the Mountaineers in
the game, including a pair of diving stops in the second half.
Fruin and Crawford each had a goal and an assist in the game for
Navy while White added a pair of helpers. Sadie Winship (York,
Pa./Eastern York) led the Mount with four shots in the contest.
The Mount returns to action on Friday, September 25, when Longwood
visits Waldron Family Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. game.
