Men's Tennis Edged by Loyola, 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 2, 2009)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team was edged by Loyola, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts. Thad Mostowtt rallied from a 4-1 third-set deficit to earn a win at No.4 singles for the Mount.

The Greyhounds won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Patrick Plastow and Andrew Marinucci were clipped by Keyan Sanai and Pierce Norton, 8-6. The Mount's No. 2 tandem of Thad Mostowtt and Favio Osorio earned an 8-5 win over Kevin Zingler and Matt McDaniel, but Loyola's No. 3 team of Dan D'Agostino and Rob Mattison defeated Sam Walton and Jastin Mostowtt, 8-5, to clinch the point.

In singles action, Thad Mostowtt earned a hard-fought 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 win over McDaniel at the No. 4 singles position to tie the score at 3-3. Loyola's Mattison, however, downed Jastin Mostowtt, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 6 singles to clinch the match.

Favio Osorio rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Sanai at No. 1 singles for the Mount while Plastow won at No. 3 singles when Zingler had to retire due to an injury.

The Mount returns to action on Saturday, April 4, when NEC rival Saint Francis (Pa.) visits for a 12:00 p.m. match at the MSM Tennis Courts.
