West Windsor, N.J. (April 18, 2009)--Mount St. Mary's defeated
Robert Morris, 5-0, in a women's tennis consolation match at the
NEC Championships held at the Mercer County Tennis Center on
Saturday afternoon. The Mount finishes the season with a 10-10
record with the win.
In singles play, Emily Bolchoz earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kali
Delorie at the No. 1 spot while Chelsea Johnson cruised to a 6-1,
6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Ekaterina Rudneva. Emma Haley won
6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singlse over Maria Olausson while Emily Grugan
was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles over Sara
Meier. The mataches at No. 3 and No. 6 singles were not finished
because the Mount had already clinched the win.
In
doubles action, Johnson and Kaitlin Hallahan won 8-3 over Olausson
and Rudneva at No. 2 doubles with Grugan and Alissa Thayer winning
8-4 over Gwen Dauphon and Emily Himmel at No. 3.
