EMMITSBURG,
Md. Sam Walton (Catonsville, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) won at
No. 5 singles to clinch a 5-2 victory for Mount St. Mary's over
Coppin State in non-conference men's tennis action on Wednesday.
After the
Mount earned the doubles point, Favio Osorio (Germantown,
Md./Northwest) won at No. 1 singles and Thad Mostowtt (San Diego,
Calif./Cathedral Catholic) picked up a victory at No. 4 singles,
Walton defeated Tervell Johnson 6-0, 6-1 to seal the win for the
Mountaineers at the No. 5 spot.
Osorio
defeated Viktor Lemberger 7-5, 6-0 at the top singles position and
Thad Mostowtt blanked Oshain Blake 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Osorio and Thad Mostowtt teamed up to down Lemberger and Johnson at
No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Walton and Jastin Mostowtt (San Diego,
Calif./Cathedral Catholic) won at No. 3 doubles by default to earn
the doubles point while Mostowtt won at No. 6 singles by
default.
Mount St.
Mary's returns to the court on Saturday at home against Delaware.
