March 13, 2009--The Mount St. Mary's men's and
women's tennis teams lost to Northeast Conference foe Quinnipiac on
Friday afternoon at the MSM Tennis Courts. The women's team lost
6-1 while the men's team fell 7-0.
The Mount women (4-7) battled the Bobcats tough despite the 6-1
loss. Emma Haley earned a 6-7, 7-4, 10-5 win over Shawna Sarson at
the No. 4 singles spot for the Mountaineers. Emily Bolchoz lost to
Mary Wilson, 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 1 singles position while Chelsea
Johnson fell 6-4, 6-4, to Adrienne Markison at the No. 2 singles
spot.
In doubles action, Johnson and Kaitlin Hallahan downed Natalie
Duckor and Sarson, 8-5, at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, but
Quinnipiac (5-6) won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles
point.
The Mount men's team fell to 1-10 this season with a 7-0 loss to
the Bobcats (5-2). Favio Osorio lost at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1 at
the No. 1 position while Thad Mostowtt fell to Garrett Lane, 6-3,
6-3, at No. 3 singles.
The Mount hosts Loyola on Sunday, March 15, at 12:00 p.m.
