Patrick Plastow Advances to Flight A Singles Final to Lead Mount Men's Tennis at MSM Invitational

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 3, 2009)--Mount St. Mary's junior Patrick Plastow (Dushore, Pa./Pennsylvania Home School) advanced to the Flight A Singles championship match to lead the men's tennis team at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on campus.

Plastow edged Dale Beshore (Gettysburg), 6-2, 3-6, 10-7, in the opening round before rallying for a 1-6, 7-6, 10-4 win over Drew Slocum (Millersville) in the Flight A Singles semifinal round. He will face Loyola's Keyan Sanai in the final tomorrow.

Mike Salomon (Haymarket, Va./Seton School) osted a 7-5, 6-1 win over Andrew Sorgi (Millersville) in the consolation round after falling to Sanai, 6-7, 6-1, 10-4, in the first round of the Flight A Singles.

In Flight B Singles, the Mount's Andrew Marinucci (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) outslugged Mike McLaughlin (Gettysburg), 2-6, 6-3, 16-14, in the consolation round. Marinucci had lost to Tyler Reppert (Millersville), 6-3, 6-4, in the opening round.

Taylor Place (Snellville, Ga./St. Pius X) had a 6-0, 6-4 win over Don Swantko (Millersville) in the Flight C Singles consolation round. Place lost to Loyola's Bobby Gorczakowski, 3-6, 6-4, 10-1, in the first round.

In Flight D Singles, Jastin Mostowtt (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) had a 6-1, 6-2 win over Juri Jacoby (Gettysburg) in the consolation round after falling to C.J. Chomeau (Loyola), 6-4, 6-2, in the opening round.

In doubles play, the Mount's tandem of Marinucci and Salomon advanced to the semifinals in Flight A with an 8-6 wn over Reppert and Erik Wright (Millersville). In Flight B Doubles, Thad Mostowtt (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) and Place moved to the semifinal round with an 8-5 win over Tim Koch and Chet Milot (Loyola).

The tournament concludes tomorrow with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. Play begins at 11:00 a.m. at the MSM Tennis Courts.
