Mount Women's Update: The Mount improved to
5-0 on the year with a dominating 7-0 victory over Wagner on
October 10, 2009 Senior Chelsea Johnson lead the
Mount to its victories with a shut out in the number one singles
spot, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. The Mount went
undefeated in singles play against the Seahawks.
About the Hornets: Delaware State women's team
is currently undefeated this season posting a 5-0 record with four
shutouts. Mariana Sicic and Polina Razborova have led the Hornets
to straight set victories in their last two singles matches.
Mariana Sicic and Cristina Andrade are leading the doubles team
this year for the Hornets, with only one loss in their five matches
this year.
Strong Start: The Mount women's tennis team is
off to a strong start in 2009-10, posting impressive victories in
their last two matches against St. Joseph's and Wagner. Senior Chelsea
Johnson is leading the way in the number one singles spot with
an 8-4 record this season. Emily Bolchoz and Renee
Deane are setting the pace in doubles matches, going 3-0 at
home matches.
Earning Their Stripes: The freshmen have been
playing well recently, posting a 6-0 record in their last two
matches against St. Joseph's and Wagner, Kelly
Conroy is playing at No. 3 singles, Carly
Landini at No. 4, Kara
Caufield at No. 5 and Renee
Deane at the No. 6 spot.
Match Made in Heaven: Junior Emily
Bolchoz and freshman Renee
Deane have been on a tear this year compiling a doubles victory
in six of the last seven matches. Bolchoz and Deane look to
continue their success this season against the Hornets on Tuesday,
as they look to continue to pace the Mount's doubles
team.
Last Year: The Mount lost to Delaware State 5-2
at home.
Home Sweet Home: The Mount is currently
undefeated this year when playing matches at home. They have won
all three matches by a combined score of 20-1. Senior Chelsea
Johnson is undefeated at home this year in the number one
singles spot.
