Women's Soccer Edge by Robert Morris, 1-0

Moon Township, Pa. (October 18, 2009)--The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team had its three-game win streak snapped in a 1-0 loss at Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon. The Mount falls to 5-8-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the NEC with the loss.

The Colonials broke a scoreless tie on a goal by Ayana Davis in the 78th minute. Davis took a cross from Holly Sieradzki and poked the ball inside the left post from 12 yards out for the game-winning goal.

The Mount had a great scoring chance in the 70th minute when Emily Menotti (Dover, Pa./Dover) got behind the Colonial defense, but her last touch on the ball when too long, and Robert Morris goalkeeper Jessica Olin was able to close the gap and block the shot on the breakaway.

The Mount appeared to have taken the lead in the 22nd minute a free kick was flicked off a head, behind the defense, to Menotti, who put the ball in the net. However, Menotti was offisdes on the play and the goal was waved off.

Robert Morris held a 14-to-10 advantage in shots in the game. Olin made five saves in the victory while Alicia Miller (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) made four saves for the Mount.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Friday, October 23, with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Quinnipiac at Waldron Family Stadium on campus.
