Emmitsburg, Md. (October 10,
2009)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team cruised to
a 7-0 win over Northeast Conference rival Wagner at the Mount St.
Mary's Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Mount lost just
one game in the entire match against the Seahawks to improve to 5-0
on the season.
In doubles play, Emily Bolchoz and Renee
Deane earned an 8-0 win over Karena Webber and Aurora Brennan
at the No. 1 doubles spot while Emily Grugan and Carly Landini blanked
Joanna Ciavarella and Kaeli Havunen, 8-0, at the No. 2 doubles
position. The Mount won the third doubles match by default.
In singles play, Johnson swept past
Webber, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 singles position with Bolchoz
downing Ciavarella, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Kelly Conroy was a
6-0, 6-1 winner over Brennen at the No. 3 singles position with Kara
Caufield and Landini earning 6-0, 6-0 sweeps of Havunen and
Alison Argust at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively.
The Mount hosts Delaware State on October
18 in their next match.
