Mount Completes Second Day of Competition at Bucknell Invitational

Lewisburg, Pa. (September 20, 2008)--Junior Chelsea Johnson (Downingtown, Pa./21st Century Cyber School) advanced to the Flight A Singles Consolation Final at the Bucknell Invitational.

After falling in her first round match, Johnson earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Loyola's Joy Johnson to earn a spot in Sunday's Flight A Singles Consolation final against Fairleigh Dickinson's Ksenia Chernyshova. Also in A singles, Emily Bolchoz (Tequesta, Fla./Kolbe Academy) los to Ashley Globerman of Bucknell, 7-6, 6-7, 10-8.

In Flight B Singles, Emma Haley (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) and Emily Grugan (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) each lost in the consolation round, setting up a match between the teammates. Grugan defeated Haley, 6-7, 6-0, 10-8, in the consolation round.

In Flight C Singles, Alissa Thayer (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) defeated teammate Samantha Dupaya (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) in the consolation round before falling to Rachel Bergeron of Loyola, 6-2, 6-2. The Mount's Lauren Clark was defeated by Liz Black of Loyola, 6-4, 6-1, in the second round before earning a 6-2, 6-7, 10-7 win over FDU's Tina Martine in the consolation round. Taylor Hamlet (Long Beach, N.Y./Sacred Heart) lost a pair of matches in Flight C SIngles as well for the Mount.

In doubles play, the Mount's combination of Bolchoz and Haley lost their second round match to a pair from Villanova. In the consolation round, Johnson and Kaitlin Hallahan (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast) lost their match to a pair from Bucknell. In B Doubles, Hamlet and Dupaya fell to a duo from Bucknell.

The tournament closes out today on Sunday.
