Lewisburg, Pa. (September 19, 2008)--The doubles
tandem of Emily
Bolchoz (Tequesta, Fla./Kolbe Academy) and Emma
Haley (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) earned an 8-6 win in the
opening round of the Flight A Doubles at the Bucknell
Invitational. Freshman Lauren Clark (Colts Neck, N.J./Red Bank
Catholic) advanced in the Flight C Singles as well for the
Mount.
Bolchoz and Haley earned an 8-6 win over the duo of Jess DeCarlos
and Chernyshova of NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson in the Flight A
Doubles. The Mount's tandem of Chelsea
Johnson (Downingtown, Pa./21st Century Cyber School)
and Kaitlin
Hallahan (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast) were downed by a
pair from Loyola, 8-4, in Flight A doubles as well.
In flight B Doubles, Taylor
Hamlet (Long Beach, N.Y./Sacred Heart) and Samantha
Dupaya (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) were
defeated by Alexandra Harding and Natasha Stone of Villanova by the
score of 8-2.
In Flight C singles, Clark was the Mount's lone winner in the
opening round with a 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 score over Megan Lee of
Bucknell. Alissa
Thayer (Finksburg, Md./Westminster), Dupaya and Hamlet
each lost their opening round match in Flight C.
In Flight A singles, Bolchoz was defeated by Bucknell's Lauren
Lucido, 6-3, 7-5, in her opening round match while Johnson fell to
Courtney Reed of Villanova, 6-4, 6-2. In Flight B singles, Haley
lost to Harding of Villanova, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 while Emily
Grugan (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) was downed in
straight sets as well.
The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday.
