Emmitsburg, Md. (September 16, 2008)--Shepherd defeated Mount St. Mary's, 4-3, in men's tennis action at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon in the Mount's season opener. Patrick Plastow (Dushore, Pa./Pennsylvania Home School) earned a win at No. 2 singles for the Mount.

Shephered won two of three doubles matches to open the day by taking the doubles point. Favio Osorio (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and Thad Mostowtt (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Nathan Jones and Jesse Klumeas. Shepherd, however, took wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to earn the point.

In singles action, Liam MacDonald edged Jastin Mostowtt (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic), 6-3, 7-5, at No. 6 singles to clinch the match. Plastow led the Mount with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Andy Bosco while Osorio cruised to an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Bobby Sisson at No. 3 singles. Thad Mostowtt had a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles for the Mount.

The Mount returns to action on September 24 with a match at Coppin State.
