Orlando, Fla. (February 26,
2008)--The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team snapped a
three-match losing streak with a 7-2 victory over Puerto
Rico-Mayaguez in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday afternoon. With the win,
the Mount improves to 8-6 on the season.
The Mount won five of six singles matches
to earn the victory. Kaitlin Hallahan won 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 1
singles spot over Alexandrea Corria. Chelsea Johnson earned a 6-3,
6-0 win at No. 2 singles while Emily Bolchoz outlasted Monica
Zawarez, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 3 singles spot. Emma Haley
earned a 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 win at the No. 4 position while Ashley
Wentzel earned a come-from-behind 4-6, 7-6, 7-1 win at the No. 6
spot in the lineup.
In doubles play, Haley and Bolchoz earned
an 8-4 win at the No. 1 spot while Johnson and Hallahan were 8-6
winners at No. 2 doubles.
The Mount returns to action tomorrow at
Bethune Cookman.
