Orlando, Fla. (February 25,
2008)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team opened its
annual trip to Florida with an 8-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead
on Monday afternoon in Orlando, Fla. The Mount improves to 3-4 on
the season with the victory.
The Mount captured all three doubles
matches to take a 3-0 lead in the match. At the No. 2 doubles
spot, Patrick
Plastow and Mickey
Poirier defeated Kirby Johnson and Jordan Swanson, 9-8 (7-1) in
a hard-fought match.
The Mount won five of the singles matches
on the day. Andrew
Marinucci posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Matt Edin at the No. 2
singles spot while Plastow was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Johnson at
No. 3 singles. Thad
Mostowtt won in straight sets at No. 4 singles over Johnson
while Rob
Dupaya was a 6-4, 6-1 victor at No. 5 singles. Poirier cruised
to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles to round out the scoring.
The Mount returns to action tomorrow
against Ohio Northern at noon.
