Emmitsburg, Md. (October 4, 2008)--The doubles pair of Patrick Plastow (Dushore, Pa./Pennsylvania Home School) and Andrew Marinucci (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) advanced to the semifinals of the Flight A Doubles at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on campus on Saturday afternoon. The tournament features athletes from Mount St. Mary's, Loyola, Robert Morris and George Mason in four flights of singles brackets and two flights of doubles brackets.

Plastow and Marinucci defeated Dan D'Agostino and Jamie Russo of Loyola, 8-0, in their first-round match in Flight A Doubles. They will face Brian Fitzgerald and Daniel Schneider of George Mason in the semifinal round tomorrow.

In Flight A singles, Marinucci was defeated by George Mason's Jorge Osuna, 6-2, 6-1, while Plastow fell to Loyola's Keyan Sinai, 6-4, 6-0 in their first round matches. In the consolation round, Marinucci fell to Sean Curley of Robert Morris, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 and Plastow lost to Matt Wodzinski of Robert Morris, 6-0, 7-5.

In Flight B singles, the Mount's Favio Osorio (Germantown, Md./Northwest) downed Dave Pinto of Robert Morris, 6-2, 6-2, in the first round before falling to Daniel Schneider of George Mason, 6-4, 6-0, in the semifinal round. Thad Mostowtt (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) fell to Loyola's Kevin Zingler, 6-3, 6-0, in his first round match before earning a default win over Igor Neves of Robert Morris in the consolation round.

At Flight C singles, Jastin Mostowtt (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) lost his first round match to Imran Nayeem (George Mason), 6-0, 6-2, before advancing in the consolation round with a win over Ryan Cameron of Robert Morris by default. Sam Walton (Catonsville, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) fell to Dan Becker (Robert Morris), 6-0, 6-0, in his first round match and to Matt Vaughn of George Mason, 6-1, 6-2, in the consolation round.

Herschel Waites (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) lost his first round match at Flight D singles to Chet Milot of Loyola. Waites then fell to Aaron Haas of Robert Morris, 6-0, 6-0, in the consolation round. Reilly Gates (Ellicott City, Md./Mount St. Joseph) lost to Naz Doroush (Robert Morris), 6-1, 6-2, in the first round and to Rob Mattison of Loyola, 6-1, 6-0, in the consolation round.

At Flight A Doubles, Osorio and Thad Mostowtt lost to Sean Curley and Matt Wodzinski of Robert Morris, 8-3, in their first round match. In Flight B Doubles, Gates and Waites lost to Lee Wexler and Jorge Osuna of George Mason, 8-2, in the first round while the pair of Walton and Jastin Mostowtt fell to Arjun Sanghvi and Nayeem of George Mason, 8-6.

The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final two rounds of doubles and the final round of singles action. Play begins at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts at 11:00 a.m.
