Northeast Conference Leader Long Island Hands Women's Soccer 7-0 Defeat

Brooklyn, N.Y. (October 31, 2008)--Northeast Conference leading Long Island handed Mount St. Mary's a 7-0 defeat in a conference matchup on Friday afternoon. The Blackbirds scored four times in the first half to take control of the game.

Tasia Davis scored the first of her two goals just 3:03 into the game to give LIU a 1-0 advantage. The Blackbirds (14-3-1, 8-0-0 NEC) then sealed the win by scoring three times in a span of 3:19 to grab a 4-0 advantage 16 minutes into the contest. Ariana Calderon, Davis and Caitlin Meadows tallied the goals for LIU.

Kayleigh Morgan scored three times in the second half to round out the scoring in the game for the Blackbirds. The Mount (2-15-1, 1-6-1 NEC) was outshot in the game, 24-11, while LIU took all 13 corner kicks in the game. Alicia Miller made three saves in the first half for the Mount while Amanda Kitzmiller made five in the second half. Miller now has 123 saves on the season, just one shy of the school's all-time mark of 124 set by Anna Lebo in 2006.

The Mount concludes the 2008 season at Wagner at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
