Emmitsburg, Md. (October 3, 2008)--The Mount St.
Mary's women's tennis team swept Robert Morris, 7-0, at the Mount
St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon. Junior
Chelsea Johnson (Downingtown, Pa./21st Century Cyber
School) moved into 10th on the Mount's all-time singles
win list with her victory at No. 2 singles.
Johnson earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kalie Delorie to improve to
48-18 in her Mount career in singles action. The 48 singles wins
move Johnson into 10th on the Mount's all-time list, ahead of Katie
Muething (2003-07, 47-55).
Emily Bolchoz (Tequesta, Fla./Kolbe Academy)
earned an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Ekaterina Rudneva at No. 1 singles
for the Mount. Kaitlin Hallahan (Naples, Fla./Gulf
Coast) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Libby Shaw at No. 3
singles while Emily Grugan (Wilmington, Del./Padua
Academy) earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Maria Olausson at No.
4 singles. Emma Haley (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) and
Lauren Clark (Colts Neck, N.J./Red Bank Catholic)
were straight-set winners at No. 5 and No. 6 singles,
respectively.
The Mount swept the three doubles matches to earn the doubles
point.
