Pittsburgh, Pa. (September 8, 2007)--Anna Lebo
(Walkersville, Md./Walkersville)
made nine saves, but it was not enough as Army edged Mount St.
Mary's, 1-0, at the Duquesne Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pa. With
the loss, the Mount falls to 0-4 on the season.
The game remained scoreless until Army's Caitlyn Gallagher scored
with 22:05 remaining on an assist from Amelia Janoski. The Mount
had a chance to tie with just under 13 minutes left, but
Kelli Devine's (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) shot
was denied by Army goalkeeper Brittany Fearnside.
Army carried play throughout the match, outshooting the Mount
25-to-5 in the contest. Lebo made three saves in the first half and
six more in the second half to help keep the Mount in the game.
Devine led the Mount with two shots.
Fearnside had a pair of saves to earn the shutout victory for Army
(1-1). Gallagher and Pia White each had five shots to pace the Army
offense.
The Mount returns to action on Friday, Sept. 14, with a 4:00 p.m.
game at Saint Peter's.
