The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team improved to 4-0 this
season with a 6-1 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) at the MSM Tennis
Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Mount won five of six singles
matches to seal the victory.
The Mount (4-0, 2-0 NEC) won two of three doubles matches to
earn the doubles point. Jeff Lamberton and Derek Taylor teamed for
an easy 8-0 win over Rob Vandenberg and Vihren Todorov at the No. 1
doubles spot while Favio Osorio and Thad Mowstowtt combined for an
8-3 win at No. 2 over Elan Evans and Dima Malinsky. St. Francis
(1-3, 0-2 NEC) took the third doubles when Jindra Chaloupka and
Bratislav Radosevlijevic defeated Matt Ross and Sam Walton,
8-3.
In singles matches, the Mount won five matches to capture the
victory. Lamberton swept past Todorov, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles
while Mostowtt was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Vandenberg at No. 4
singles. Derek Taylor won at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-4 (1-0) and Sam
Walton won his second straight match, 6-0, 6-1 over Chris Sepulveda
at No. 6 singles. Matt Ross earned a 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 win over Evans
at No. 5 singles. St. Francis earned its lone point of the match
with Chaloupka's 6-2, 6-0 win over Osorio at No. 1 singles.
The Mount rounds out its fall schedule with a12:00 p.m. match at
Rider tomorrow.
