EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 16, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball travels to the Nutmeg State for a three-game, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series with Fairfield this weekend, April 17 – April 19, with first pitch in Connecticut on Friday slatted for 3:00 p.m. After a sweep of Fairfield last weekend, the Mountaineers are now the owners of a 10-8 record in the MAAC.
MOUNT UPDATE
George Mason topped nine runs in the top of the first inning on April 14 in Emmitsburg while scoring two runs in the second and one in the third. The Mountaineers got on the board in the bottom half of the third inning after
Ty Fredo hit out a solo home run to left field for the Mount's first run of the day.
The Patriots scored one more run in the top of the fifth inning before
David Stokely doubled to center field, scoring
Alex Mendes in the bottom half of the fifth inning.
Carson Clark hit out a solo shot to right center in the bottom of the sixth, rounding out the Mount's scoring efforts as the game was calling in the seventh inning due to lightning.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield currently sits in third place in the MAAC with a conference record of 10-5, complementing an overall record of 15-15. Notable wins for the Stags in 2026 have come against Elon, St. John's, Central Connecticut State, and Binghamton. Fairfield has recorded conference sweeps against both Manhattan and Saint Peter's while taking a series win away at Merrimack.

Since play began between the Mountaineers and the Stags in 2023, Mount St. Mary's has accumulated an overall record of 3-5 against Fairfield, with their last meeting in the 2024 MAAC Playoffs ending in a 7-6 win for the Stags. This weekend will play host to the first meeting between the two in Connecticut.
