EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 10, 2026) – Two wins in a row kept playoff hopes alive for Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse. On Saturday, the team hopes to make it three straight as they challenge Quinnipiac in a road contest.
MOUNT UPDATE
- Making a late fourth quarter push at Canisius, the Mount took the game by a final score of 12-10. Six Mountaineers posted goals in the win, led by hat tricks from Marcelo Carreiro and Carter Quested. Collin Thomson assisted on one-third of the team's scores.
- Kevin Whitty is second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for assists per game at two per contest. Brody Atkinson is third for goals per game, averaging 2.5 every outing. Together the duo are both in the top 10 in the MAAC for points per game.
- Last Saturday's win halted a two-game losing streak to the Golden Griffins.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
- The Bobcats are in a similar situation to the Mount, looking to stay afloat in the MAAC playoff race. They got a huge boost last Saturday with a 16-14 upset of Sacred Heart.
- Nate Watson is Quinnipiac's leading goal scorer with 30 for the season. Cole Marsala has the most assists with 14.
- On defense, Joe Konesco has the most caused turnovers with 19. Evan Miner took over goalkeeping duties in March and has 80 saves so far over six games.
PLAYOFF PICTURE
- Five teams make the playoff in the MAAC.
- At present, Quinnipiac holds the fifth spot, earning the tiebreaker over Canisius based on head-to-head matchup.
- Mount St. Mary's is one-half game behind both Quinnipiac and Canisius, and is looking to sweep both to attain the tiebreaker over both teams.
ALL-TIME SERIES
- Mount holds a 6-4 edge over Quinnipiac in the series. The Bobcats have won four of the past five meetings to draw closer.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Next Saturday (Apr. 18) concludes the regular season for the Mount, as the team hosts Siena at Waldron Family Stadium.
