LEXINGTON, Va. (March 29, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo fell to Villanova today in the final game of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference season by a score of 16-9 in Virginia. With the loss, the Mountaineers round out the 2026 season with an overall record of 8-14 while missing the MAAC playoffs with a conference record of 3-5.
 
Both Villanova and Mount St. Mary's came to play in the first quarter, as the score remained deadlocked at 3-3 heading into the first intermission. A further three goals found the back of the net for the Mount in the second quarter only for the Wildcats to come up a goal better to win the second quarter 4-3. Coming out of the halftime break, the Wildcats asserted themselves on offense, outscoring the Mount 5-3 while shutting the Marylander's out in the fourth by a score of 4-0, rounding out the game.
 
In her final game for the Mountaineer's, senior Anna Kegel recorded a hat trick on offense while recording an assist and a drawn exclusion. Lotte Schreurs and Leilani Horan recorded two-goal days in the pool while Lucia Redaelli and Taylor Wilson recorded solo scoring efforts. Horan recorded four steals on defense while Redaelli recorded three completed steals. Olivia Fernie made three saves in goal for the Mount against Villanova.
