EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 27, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo heads to Lexington, Virginia for their final weekend of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season action with three matches against LIU and Wagner on Saturday while facing off against Villanova on Sunday.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Explorers jumped out to a 5-3 lead through the first quarter on March 21 before the Mountaineers rebounded in the second quarter, holding La Salle to a 3-2 quarter win in the second and owning a 8-5 deficit at halftime.
Scores remained the same through the third quarter as the Mount held La Salle scoreless while not capitalizing on the offensive side of the pool. The game truly became unreachable in the fourth and final quarter as the Explorers outscored the Mountaineers 4-0 to round out the game.
Anna Kegel led the offense once again, recording two goals with a hat trick of assists.
Lotte Schreurs,
Kiele Davidson, and
Taylor Wilson all recorded solo scores while Schreurs recorded three steals and
Emily Hatcher completing three steals.
The Mountaineers fell to Siena in the first quarter by a close score of 3-2 on March 22 while tying the Saint 4-4 in the fourth, sending both teams into the break with a 7-6 lead in favor of Siena. Mount St. Mary's came to play in the third quarter, surpassing Siena 3-2 in the quarter to take a one goal lead. But a resurgent Saint's side out of the final intermission came out for the fourth and final quarter, surpassing the Mount 3-2, rounding out a Mount loss.
Lotte Schreurs finished the game on top of the Mount, posting eight goals while recording one steal. Leilani scored a double while recording an assist and a completed steal followed by a goal from
Anna Kegel, who also recorded an assist on the day.
Lucia Redaelli recorded three steals and two assists while
Taylor Wilson notched two assists of her own.
Olivia Fernie recorded seven saves in goal for the Mount against Siena.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
LIU has accrued a record of 7-17 across the 2026 season, while recording a MAAC record of 1-4 through the first five conference games of the season. The Sharks recorded their only MAAC win of the year on March 21 against Iona, beating the Gaels in a close 9-8 game after four quarters. Other notable wins for the sharks include victory's against Santa Clara, Biola, La Verne, UC Merced, and CSU Monterey Bay.
Wagner has recorded an overall record of 10-11 through 21 games of the 2026 season, with a MAAC record of 3-2. In conference play, the Seahawks recorded wins against LIU, La Salle, and Siena while falling to Villanova and Marist. Notable out of conference wins for the Seahawks include W's against Iona, Bucknell, Pomona-Pitzer, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
And Villanova has notched a 17-8 record through the final weekend of the 2026 season, marking a 4-1 record in MAAC play. Only losing to Marist, the Wildcats have recorded wins against VMI, LIU, Wagner, and La Salle, while notching out of conference wins against occidental, UC Merced, and CUI.

The Mountaineers have a 2-4 record against LIU, a 0-5 record against Wagner, and a 2-7 record against Villanova in all-time matchups.
