Mount Women’s Water Polo Falls to Siena in Close One-Goal Game

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (March 22, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo fell to Siena on Sunday at Marist by a close score of 12-11. With the loss, the Mountaineers fall to a 2-3 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
 
The Mountaineers fell to Siena in the first quarter by a close score of 3-2 while tying the Saint 4-4 in the fourth, sending both teams into the break with a 7-6 lead in favor of Siena. Mount St. Mary's came to play in the third quarter, surpassing Siena 3-2 in the quarter to take a one goal lead. But a resurgent Saint's side out of the final intermission came out for the fourth and final quarter, surpassing the Mount 3-2, rounding out a Mount loss.
 
Lotte Schreurs finished the game on top of the Mount, posting eight goals while recording one steal. Leilani scored a double while recording an assist and a completed steal followed by a goal from Anna Kegel, who also recorded an assist on the day. Lucia Redaelli recorded three steals and two assists while Taylor Wilson notched two assists of her own. Olivia Fernie recorded seven saves in goal for the Mount against Siena.

Next weekend, the Mountaineers travel to Lexington, Virginia, taking on LIU, Wagner, and Villanova on March 28 and March 29.
