Women’s Water Polo Fall to La Salle During First Game in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (March 21, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo fell to La Salle by a score of 12-5 during their first game in Poughkeepsie this weekend. With the loss, the Mountaineers fall to an overall record of 7-11 with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record of 2-2.
 
The Explorers jumped out to a 5-3 lead through the first quarter before the Mountaineers rebounded in the second quarter, holding La Salle to a 3-2 quarter win in the second and owning a 8-5 deficit at halftime.
 
Scores remained the same through the third quarter as the Mount held La Salle scoreless while not capitalizing on the offensive side of the pool. The game truly became unreachable in the fourth and final quarter as the Explorers outscored the Mountaineers 4-0 to round out the game.
 
Anna Kegel led the offense once again, recording two goals with a hat trick of assists. Lotte Schreurs, Kiele Davidson, and Taylor Wilson all recorded solo scores while Schreurs recorded three steals and Emily Hatcher completing three steals.

The Mountaineers return to Poughkeepsie tomorrow, March 22, with a game against Siena slated for an 11:00 a.m. start.
