Mount Baseball Looks to Get Back in the Win Column with Away Series Against Sacred Heart

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 26, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball hits the road this weekend, March 27-29 for a three-game in Fairfield, Connecticut, facing off against Sacred Heart. With their close, 7-6 loss to Bucknell on Tuesday, the Mountaineers fell to an overall record of 10-12 with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record of 4-5.
 
MOUNT UPDATE
 
Bucknell took an early 3-0 in the top of the first inning on Tuesday while the Mountaineers could not control the game at the plate in the first two innings. Kaden Kimble came into relieve Jackson Snyder in the second inning and posted a career best five-strikeouts in three and a third innings of work without giving up a run and allowing one hit against the Bison.
 
The Mountaineers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth after an Evan Meier single up the middle scored Carson Clark for the first Mount run of the game. A few at-bats later, Alex Mendes reached base on a hit to the third base man, allowing Evan Meier to score. Mount St. Mary's posted another run in fifth inning after a Paddy Hebda singled to second base, scoring Ty Fredo. And Sam Meyer scored in the bottom of the sixth, after the junior from Bay Village, Ohio hit a home run to dead center to take a 4-3 lead.
 
Bucknell regained the lead in the seventh, taking a 6-4 lead in the seventh only for the Mount to claw the game back a half inning later as Nate Wiles hit into a double play, scoring Mike Toth from second base. Bucknell hit a homer un in the home run in the top of the eight to extend their lead to 7-5. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Ty Fredo walked, scoring to cut the run deficit to one, only for the Mountaineers to be caught on the base paths an at-bat later, ending the Mount's chances at the plate in the eighth.
 
Mendes went 3-5 on the day with an RBI while Meier, Bauman, Meyer, Stokely, Hebda, and Wiles recorded solo hits on the day against the Bison. Both Meier and Ty Fredo worked two walks each.
 
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
 
Through 21 games of the 2026 season, Sacred Heart has accrued a record of 5-16 with a 3-3 record in the MAAC. After defeating North Florida on February 13, the Pioneers went on a 10-game losing streak before defeating Rider on March 8 in a 5-4 win over the Broncs. The Pioneers recorded a series win over Quinnipiac while defeating New Haven 16-3 on March 25.
 
ALL-TIME RECORD
 
Dating back to their first meeting in 2000, the Mountaineers have a 26-51 record against Sacred Heart, with Mount St. Mary's having a 9-26 record in Fairfield. The Mount's last win over Sacred Heart came on March 7, 2025, besting the Pioneers 21-5 in Emmitsburg.
