Mountaineers Fall to Bucknell in Emmitsburg After Late Inning Rally Falls Short; Kimble Posts Career Day

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 24, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball fell to Bucknell on Tuesday Afternoon by a close score of 7-6 after nine innings at the Straw. With the loss, the Mount falls to an overall record of 10-12 with six more mid-week, non-conference match ups remaining in the 2026 season.

Bucknell took an early 3-0 in the top of the first inning while the Mountaineers could not control the game at the plate in the first two innings. Kaden Kimble came into relieve Jackson Snyder in the second inning and posted a career best five-strikeouts in three and a third innings of work without giving up a run and allowing one hit against the Bison.

The Mountaineers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth after an Evan Meier single up the middle scored Carson Clark for the first Mount run of the game. A few at-bats later, Alex Mendes reached base on a hit to the third base man, allowing Evan Meier to score. Mount St. Mary's posted another run in fifth inning after a Paddy Hebda singled to second base, scoring Ty Fredo. And Sam Meyer scored in the bottom of the sixth, after the junior from Bay Village, Ohio hit a home run to dead center to take a 4-3 lead.

Bucknell regained the lead in the seventh, taking a 6-4 lead in the seventh only for the Mount to claw the game back a half inning later as Nate Wiles hit into a double play, scoring Mike Toth from second base. Bucknell hit a homer un in the home run in the top of the eight to extend their lead to 7-5. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Ty Fredo walked, scoring to cut the run deficit to one, only for the Mountaineers to be caught on the base paths an at-bat later, ending the Mount's chances at the plate in the eighth.

Mendes went 3-5 on the day with an RBI while Meier, Bauman, Meyer, Stokely, Hebda, and Wiles recorded solo hits on the day against the Bison. Both Meier and Ty Fredo worked two walks each.
