EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 23, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball faces off against Bucknell in Emmitsburg on Tuesday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m. at E.T. Straw Family Stadium. The Mountaineers are looking to bounce back against the Bison on Tuesday after falling to Rider in a three-game sweep this past weekend.
MOUNT UPDATE
After striking out the lead off batter in game three against Rider,
Owen Crowe produced a groundout to first base followed by a walk to put a runner on to start the first inning. After an error from
Alex Mendes at third base, the Mountaineers recorded a 5-3-1 putout at home plate as Crowe put the tag on to save a run and get the Mount out of the inning. Following Crowe's first inning on the mound,
Evan Meier led off the bottom of the first with a 1-2 HR to left field to put the Mountaineers up 1-0 early.
But the momentum swung in favor of the Broncs in the bottom of the second as the visitors tied the game. After the Mount was retired in order during the bottom part of the innings, Rider went onto score four runs in the top of the third, followed by a five-run top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth however, Mendes avenged his error from the first inning, sending out a home run to left field to cut the deficit to eight.
Later in the bottom of the seventh inning,
Nate Wiles reached base on a single followed by a double to the gap from Bryce Rudsill, scoring the shortstop and putting the third Mount run on the board. The final Mount runs came across in the bottom of the ninth after Sam Metyer sent out a two-run home run to left center to cut the deficit once again to five runs and rounding out the late Mountaineer scoring efforts.
Meier and Rudisill both went 2-4 in game three against the Broncs, both recording an RBI and working a walk. Mendes went 1-5 on the day with an RBI followed by Meyer, who went 1-4 with two RBIs against Rider.
