EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 19, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball saw four members of the team named All-MAAC honorees, announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Tuesday.
Alex Mendes was named to the First Team as a utility,
Serigne Sarre was named to the Second Team as a pitcher,
Ty Fredo received Second Team honors as a third baseman, and
Phoenix Williams earned All-Rookie status for utility.
Mendes started all 48 games for the Mountaineers this season, hitting .321 with a team best nine home runs, 12 doubles, and 47 RBI's. He set the program record for stolen bases in a single season, swiping 38 bags in 39 tries. Pairing his average with 22 walks and 15 hit-by-pitches, Mendes finished the campaign with an on-base percentage of .429.
Sarre re-established his presence as the ace of the Mount pitching staff. Over 70 innings pitching and 14 appearances, the sophomore struck out 90 batters and held opponents to a .247 batting average. He completed the season with four victories and a 4.11 ERA, reduced to 3.83 against conference opponents.
Fredo was the team's leader in batting average among qualified athletes, boasting a .331 over 42 starts. The junior collected eight home runs, 43 RBIs, a team-high 39 walks, and 24 stolen bases. He remained consistent in league games, accumulating a .326 average and a .470 on-base percentage.
Williams was the team leader in batting average for MAAC games among qualifiers, impressing with a .362 average against league opponents. For the whole season, Williams hit .312 in 37 game with 23 starts, accumulating 13 walks, 12 runs, 11 RBIs, and seven stolen bases.
In addition to the four All-MAAC honorees, 16 baseball players were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Mount St. Mary's finished the 2026 season with a 22-26 record and a 13-17 MAAC mark.
