Tristin Koerner was named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Player of the Week while freshman
Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck was named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Rookie of the Week.
Koerner was critical to the Mount's MAAC opening doubleheader sweep of Merrimack, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a home run and four RBI in the two games. She went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple in the opening 5-2 victory. Her two-run triple in the third inning gave the Mount the lead for good at 3-2. Koerner then provided all the offense in the Mount's 2-0 win over Merrimack in the nightcap, belting a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. For the week, she hit .600 (3-for-5), slugged 1.800 and drove in four of the Mount's seven runs.
Koerner is hitting .333 (11-for-33) with four doubles, a triple, a home run and a team-best nine RBI on the year. She leads the Mount in slugging percentage (.606) while posting a .421 on-base percentage.
Zagrodnicheck had a complete-game victory for the Mount in a 5-2 win over Merrimack in the MAAC opener. She struck out a pair and scattered seven hits allowed in the win. Zagrodnicheck allowed just one base runner over the final three innings, and kept Merrimack off the scoreboard after a two-run first inning.
On the season, Zagrodnicheck is 2-2 with a team-best 3.55 ERA in 21.2 innings of work. She as struck out 13 batters in six appearances with three starts.
Mount St. Mary's plays at Towson tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. before hosting UAlbany for a four-game series this weekend at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on campus.
