TOWSON, Md. (March 10, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's softball claimed their fifth win of the year on Wednesday afternoon, beating Towson 10-0 over five innings. With the win, the Mount moves to 5-12 on the year.
Kelsie Bandelow drove in the first run of the game off a ground out to third base, scoring
Avery Dinges for an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. But the bats truly began to pop-off in the top of the third when
Gina Del Giorno tripled to right center, driving in Dinges again. During the next plate appearance, Bandelow once again drive in a run, hitting a sacrifice fly out to right field, scoring del Giorno from third.
Later in the third, with the bases loaded for the Mountaineers,
Lia Festa homered to left field, driving in all four RBIs for a grand slam and a 7-0 lead through the third inning.
In the top of the fourth, a successful bunt single from Del Giorno scored Dinges from second while
Tristin Koerner reached base later in the inning, scoring Del Giorno. And Sophia Schmel grounded out to short, driving in Bandelow for the final score of the game before the run-rule was invoked.
Dinges and Del Giorno both recorded two-hits on the day against the Tigers while Bandelow, Festa and
Sharon Manni recorded solo hits against Towson. With her grand slam, Festa recorded four RBIs on the day while Bandelow drove two runs in against the Tigers.
Ellie Meier recorded her first win of the year for the Mountaineers, pitching five innings of one hit baseball while recording four strikeouts.

The Mountaineers return to Emmitsburg on Saturday, March 14 for a four-game series against UAlbany, with first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader slated for 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.
