Mount Softball Drops Two Games to UAlbany

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 14, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's softball fell in the opening two games of a weekend series with UAlbany. The Great Danes won 4-1 in the first game, and 11-1 during the second game.
 
Entering the contest with an 18-inning streak to holding opponents at bay, Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck extended that streak for five more innings before UAlbany got on the board.
 
On offense, Gina Del Giorno registered four hits – two per game.
 
With the defeats, Mount St. Mary's now has a record of 5-14 for the season.
 
GAME ONE
  • Avery Dinges gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead in the fifth, breaking up a pitchers' duel with a double down the left field line to score Lia Festa.
  • UAlbany's Sara Anderson responded with a double to score two and take the lead for the Great Danes in the sixth.
  • Deanna Grahek reached on an error to score Natasha Mendez, and Taylor Quinn's groundout scored Grahek to provide insurance in the seventh.
GAME TWO
  • Each team posted a run in the first inning. After the Great Danes got on the board via an RBI groundout, Zoe Pachoca single to score Del Giorno.
  • UAlbany's offense took off from this point, scoring three runs in the second and six ruins in the third. Katie Parisi finished with three runs driven in.
