Emmitsburg, Md. (March 15, 2026)--Mount St. Mary's dropped both ends of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader to visiting UAlbany at Our Lady of the Meadows Field. The Great Danes held off a Mount rally for a 12-8 win in the opening game before posting a 13-1 victory in game two. The Mount lost all four games in the four-game set with UAlbany to fall to 5-16 on the year.
GAME 1: UAlbany 12, Mount St. Mary's 8
The Great Danes raced to an 11-0 lead after the top of the third inning, and held off a Mount rally for the four-run victory.
Emma Tawney went 3-for-3 for the Mountaineers in the game.
UAlbany scored six times in the second inning to follow a three-run first to jump out to a 9-0 lead. Sierra Roy's two-run double in the third pushed the advantage to 11-0, but the Mount countered with a five-run bottom of the third to get back into the game.
Lia Festa had the big hit in the inning, a bases-clearing double to cut the deficit to 11-5. Each team scored in the fourth to make it 12-6, and the Mount scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score 12-8.
Tawney went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while
Gina Del Giorno was 2-for-4 in the game.
Taylor Williams reached base three times, going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks in the loss.
Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck pitched the final six innings, allowing four earned runs.
GAME 2: UAlbany 13, Mount St. Mary's 1
The Great Danes scored four times in the first and nine more in the third to cruise to the 13-1 victory. Dinges led the Mount, going 2-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Ellie Meier pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Mount as well.
