EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 25, 2026) – Two teams who have qualified for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship now battle for seeding ahead of next week's event as Mount St. Mary's women's basketball host Sacred Heart.
MOUNT UPDATE
- The Mount saw a 10-point fourth quarter lead go by the wayside as Canisius rallied to force overtime and go on to upset the Mountaineers 68-63.
- Alana Powell led the team with 13 points in that game, followed by Kayla Lindsey's effort of 11 points and seven rebounds.
- Led by Giana Hoddinott's 42 steals, the team leads the MAAC in steals per game. Lindsey has 38 on the year to place second behind Hoddinott.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
- Sacred Heart comes to Emmitsburg trying to reverse a two-game losing streak with defeats to Merrimack and Quinnipiac.
- Amelia Wood is the team's scoring leader with 13.5 points per game and Emma Kirby is the rebounding leader with 6.7 boards per contest.
- The team averages 57.5 points per game, which ranks ninth in the MAAC. Defense is the key to their success with a fourth place ranking in points allowed.

- Sacred Heart stands alone in fifth place, one game ahead of the Mount and tailing Iona.
- Mount St. Mary's is in a three-way tie for sixth place. For seeding purposes, the Mount is currently eighth, trailing their tied counterparts Siena and Manhattan based on head-to-head matchups.
