EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 18, 2026) – A berth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) postseason is on the line as Mount St. Mary's women's basketball heads to Upstate New York to do battle with Niagara.
MOUNT UPDATE
- Last Thursday, the Mount welcomed Fairfield to Knott Arena and fell to the Stags 69-43. Kayla Lindsey was the leading scorer and rebounder with a respective nine points and seven boards.
- Alana Powell emerged as the team's leading scorer in the past nine games thanks to back-to-back 20-point efforts in wins over Iona and Sacred Heart. The junior averages 11.4 points a contest and is shooting 42.1 percent from the floor.
- The Buffalo trip is the final regular season road trip of the campaign. Sacred Heart and Rider are the opponents as the Mount closes out the season at home next week.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE EAGLES
- Niagara enters Thursday searching for their first win of the season with four chances remaining.
- Talia Dial is the leading scorer averaging 12.7 points and specializing in three pointers with 56 makes on the year.
- Chasity Wilson ranks second in scoring, with the freshman averaging 8.4 points a contest. She tied her career best with 21 points in their last game at Iona.
THE MAAC PICTURE
- Mount St. Mary's can clinch a postseason berth with a win Thursday or a loss by Rider at Canisius.
- The Mount is one-half game behind Iona for sixth place and a first round bye for the conference tournament.
ALL-TIME SERIES
- The series dates to 1989, and Niagara holds a 6-4 lead in the series.
- In MAAC play, the Purple Eagles lead 4-3 but the Mount has closed the gap with three straight victories. Last year's team earned a 89-68 win for the first Mountaineers victory at the Gallagher Center, to go along with two straight wins at Knott Arena.
